Importers
Importers of product into the UK from outside the EC must ensure those products comply with UK requirements. Even importers of goods from other EC countries will need to be assured that products they place on the market comply with all relevant UK requirements.
Importers responsibilities under UK and EC legislation is in most cases the same as if they were the manufacturing of the goods. As the first importer into the UK/EC, the buck stops with you. Without a watertight due diligence system, any enforcement action relating to your products is likely to be passed from the point of sale back up the supply chain to you.
